Mitral regurgitation mechanism assessed by 2D and 3D echocardiography in patient with an abnormal left coronary artery arising from the pulmonary artery.

چکیده
A two-month-old male infant presented with cardiac heart failure. Two-dimensional (2D) echocardiography showed an anomaly of the left coronary artery (LCA) arising from the pulmonary artery (Fig. 1) with mitral regurgitation (Fig. 2). Three-dimensional (3D) echocardiography was performed to determine left ventricular (LV) volume (i.e., 33, paediatric matrix probe 2—7MHz, Philips). The global and regional function of the left ventricle were analysed with the Q-LAB 4.2 system (Philips). LV ejection fraction was 54% with poor anterolateral contraction (Fig. 3). The 2D apical 4-chamber view depicted a restrictive motion of the mitral valve with hyperechogenicity of the anterolateral papillary muscle (Fig. 4). اثر PercutaneousCoronary Intervention Elective بر بهبودی نارسایی ایسکمیک میترال
Introdution: Ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR) remains one of the most complex and unresolved aspects of ischemic heart disease that the impact of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on improvement of intensity of ischemic mitral regurgitation is not well clarified. Patients with coronary artery diseases and ischemic mitral regurgitation have a worse prognosis than the patients with coro...
متن کاملHigh-risk Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting and Mitral Valve Replacement in a HIV Positive Patient
Certain subsets of high-risk mitral valve patients are not suitable candidates for transcatheter therapies. The objective of this report is to present a young patient with combined mitral valve and coronary artery disease to illustrate these challenges. In this report, we present a 47-year-old man with longstanding HIV infection who was referred with severe mitral regurgitation (MR) and profound...
متن کاملRight sided heart evaluation after successful mitral valve replacement.
Introduction: It is well-documented that right-sided heart dysfunction and significant tricuspid valve regurgitation (TVR) have adverse effects on patient outcomes after left-sided heart valve surgery. Therefore, the evaluation of right ventriclular (RV) function and TR severity in patients who had undergone mitral valve replacement (MVR), associated with/without concomitant su...
متن کاملThe Anomalous Origin of the Left Coronary Artery from the Pulmonary Artery (ALCAPA): a Case Series and Brief Review
Background Anomalous left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery (ALCAPA) is a rare congenital cardiovascular defect that occurs in approximately 1/300 000 live births or 0.5% of children with congenital heart disease. There are two types of ALCAPA syndrome: the infant type and the adult type. The most infants experience myocardial infarction and congestive heart failure, and approximately 9...
متن کاملSuccessful operation in an old survivor of anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from the pulmonary trunk (Bland-White-Garland syndrome).
A case of anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from the pulmonary trunk is reported. The patient, a 64-year-old woman, presented with a history of angina and cardiac failure. She was known to have had a mitral systolic murmur since school age. Echocardiography showed clinically significant mitral regurgitation and highly unusual extensive calcification of the mitral valve chordae, papil...
